Ekstasis

Ekstasis is defined as a state of transcendence, being out of one’s self. I wanted to capture the feelings of freedom and release that submerging yourself in water provokes and the other worldliness of what lies beneath the surface.

The series features two friends and housemates. Amanda is an emergency care doctor and Lauren is an author and climate change activist. During lockdown they discovered the joy of wild swimming and it became a sort of daily ritual, a way for them to decompress and cope with the stress of the pandemic and their increasingly demanding jobs.
